Lake View Falls 17-0 to Hemingway Powerhouse

Lake View fell victim to the undefeated Hemingway on Friday as the Tigers capped a perfect season with a 17-0 shutout over the Wild Gators.

The win marked the second straight perfect regular season for Hemingway, who made it all the way to the Lower State Championship last season before being eliminated by Bamberg-Ehrhardt.

The Tigers’ powerful defense held off the Wild Gators throughout the first half, finally getting on the board with a field goal from Hemingway’s Luis Cardena. From there, the Tigers would stay in control of the game on their way to the 17-0 win.

The Wild Gators closed the regular season with a 5-5 overall record and a 3-3 record in Region 8A. Hemingway finished 10-0 to claim the Region 8 title. The Tigers are the number two seed in the Division I lower state tournament and will face Carvers Bay in round one of the Class A playoffs.

The Class A Division II Lower State playoffs begin this Friday with Lake View taking on the fourth seed Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks in Blackville beginning at 7:30 p.m.
