Walter Joseph (Little Walt) Kubas, III

Mr. Walter Joseph (Little Walt) Kubas, III, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at his residence after an illness.
Born in Marlboro County, SC, May 1, 1970, he was a son of Walter Joseph Kubas, Jr. and Faye Griffin Kubas. He was a High School English Teacher, having taught at Dillon High School (3 years) and the Marlboro County High School for 14 years. He was a graduate of both McColl High School (Class of 1988) and Francis Marion University. While a student at Francis Marion University, he earned his BA in Education (1993) and his Masters Degree in Education with a Secondary Education Concentration in English (1998).
He attended Pine Plains Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of the National English Teachers Association and the Palmetto State Teachers Association.
His many hobbies included watching his favorite football team the Washington Redskins, watching Al Capone movies, loved listening to 1970’s classic rock music and most of all playing volleyball with his two sons that he adored.
He is survived by his parents listed above of McColl; wife, Michelle Locklear Kubas of McColl; sons, Walter Joseph (Joey) Kubas, IV and Jeremy Howard Kubas, both of McColl; and paternal grandmother, Alma Kubas of McColl.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Burroughs Cooper Kiser Funeral Home with burial following in Rogers Cemetery. The Rev. Sampson “Bo” Grooms will officiate. Family visitation was held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Burroughs Cooper Kiser Funeral Home in Bennettsville.
