A pre-kindergarten student at South Elementary School got on the wrong bus and ended up at the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office last week.
According to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, a woman came to the Sheriff’s Office with a child who had gotten off at her residence on Calhoun Street with her children.
Arnette said deputies talked with the child to try to get information from her and contacted the schools to try to get help from there to find out where she was supposed to be. It was discovered that the child went to South Elementary and had gotten on the wrong bus.
The child was supposed to be dropped off on Mark Road, Arnette said.
Dillon District Four Superintendent Ray Rogers said that students are given id tags that they wear for the first nine weeks.
It contains the child’s name, address, phone number, and bus driver.
The child will have the id tag and school officials will make sure she gets on the right bus, Rogers said.
