Lady Gators Sweep Vikings 3-0

After being swept by Dillon on Tuesday, September 13, Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators redeemed themselves on Thursday by sweeping Latta’s Lady Vikings 3-0.

Against the Lady Wildcats, Lake View fell 25-14, 25-15, and 25-15. Kayla Sanderson served 13 for 13 against Dillon with four assists, and Morgan Herlong made five assists in the match. Britney Washington and Chelsea Spivey each made four kills.

In Thursday’s matchup against the Lady Vikings, Lake View held Latta to less than 20 points in each game, finishing 25-17, 25-14, and 25-19 to claim the match.

Lake View’s Katie Cox had five aces in the match, with Chelsea Spivey leading with nine kills and Britney Washington making six kills and three aces.

Kelsie Sanderson had 10 assists for the Lady Wild Gators and Morgan Herlong made eight more.

Lake View Coach Bill Spivey says that the Lady Gators lost eight seniors to graduation last year.

“I have a young team that is working hard,” he said. “Hopefully we will be competitive this year if the girls continue to progress.”

Lake View’s record improves to 2-2 for the season and 1-0 in Region 8A, while Latta slips to 2-4.

Next up, Lake View was scheduled to travel to Johnsonville on Monday for their next region match. On Wednesday, they’ll be on the road again to take on Mullins before hosting Hemingway on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Latta was scheduled to host the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics on Monday before traveling to Johnsonville on Thursday, September 22, for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.

In junior varsity action, the j.v. Wild Gators were scheduled to take on Johnsonville on Monday and will travel again on Monday, September 26, to take on Carvers Bay at 5:00 p.m.

The junior varsity Vikings will be in action against Johnsonville on Thursday at 5:00 and will host Carvers Bay on Thursday, September 29.
