Local Junior Golfers to Represent Pee Dee in SCJGA All Stars Championship Tournament

After claiming top spots in the 2011 Pee Dee Chapter SCJGA Hootie & the Blowfish Summer Tour Championship, four local players from the Pee Dee Chapter of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association have been chosen to play in the 2011 SCJGA All Stars Championship Golf Tournament.

Hamer’s Townsend Hamilton, Dillon’s Jim Carr, Latta’s Joshua Mitchell, and Lake View’s Ashley Rogers were all named as Pee Dee Chapter All Stars. In order to qualify, golfers had to finish in the top two of their division in the Summer Tour Championship.

All four also finished near the top of their division during the season, with Ashley Rogers claiming the top spot in the Ladies tour. Carr, Hamilton, and Mitchell all took second place in their respective divisions.

In the two-day summer tour championship, held at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, Hamilton finished second in the Tour Players (boys 15-18) Championship with a two-day total of 150, just behind John Pate of Coward, who finished with a 145.

In the Players division (boys 13-15), Carr took first place with a two-day total of 176, with Justin Muller of Turbeville finishing second with 179.

In the Mini Tour division, Florence’s Harrison Breeden took first with a total of 77, and Mitchell took second with a score of 90.

The Pee Wee division was won by Florence’s Michael Hobbs with a score of 81 and Gene Zeigler with a score of 87. Lake View’s Dylan Rogers also participated in the tournament, finishing fourth with a score of 95.

In the Ladies Tour, Lake View’s Ashley Rogers finished second with a score of 101. Florence’s Sarina Somoda finished second with a total score of 80. Both were named 11–13 year old girls All Stars. Lauren Bink was the lone All Star in the Girls 14-18 division.

The 2011 SCJGA All Stars Championship Golf Tournament will be held at the Ocean Winds Golf Club on Seabrook Island on August 12, 13, and 14, 2011.
