Schools Get Technology Grants

The South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of eLearning announced technology grants totaling $1.3 million dollars to seven school districts in South Carolina.
The grants are part of the Enhancing Education Through Technology program (E2T2). The goals of E2T2 include increasing student academic performance in elementary and secondary school through the use of technology, and ensuring students are technology literate by the end of eighth grade.
With the ever-growing technology requirements of the modern workplace, educators say is essential that students leave school with a high degree of technical literacy.
The South Carolina Department of Education received more than 40 district applications.
The seven winners were awarded grants ranging from $120,000 to $240,000. Those districts are: Bamberg District 1, Colleton County, Dillon District 3, Dillon District 4, Horry County, Lexington District 2 and Marion District 7.
