After losing their opening game on Saturday to Georgia, and having Sunday’s games washed out by rainy weather, the tournament finally resumed on Monday morning.
Dillon took on McEwen, Tennessee, Monday morning for an 11-1 win. The game was mercy ruled in the bottom of the sixth inning.In Monday morning’s other games, North Carolina defeated Georgia 8-4; Texas defeated Mississippi 7-4; South Hill, Virginia, defeated Alabama 4-2; and Halifax, Virginia, shut out Louisiana 2-0.
Monday evening was a night of lop-sided scores, as Dillon eliminated Texas with an 11-3 win, Louisiana shut out Georgia 14-0, Alabama defeated Florida 17-1, and Halifax, Virginia, defeated North Carolina 17-4.
With six teams facing elimination on Tuesday, it was a tough day for some of the teams. Dillon faced Burgaw, North Carolina, in the first game of the day, ending with a 6-1 defeat for Dillon.
Louisiana defeated Alabama 5-2 in the morning and South Hill, Virginia, defeated Halifax Virginia at noon with a final score of 17-1. Louisiana then defeated Halifax 6-1 in the evening, while South Hill remained undefeated with a 6-2 win over North Carolina.The championship game was scheduled for Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. between South Hill, Virginia, and Alexandria American, Louisiana. With South Hill undefeated, Louisiana must beat them twice to claim the world series title.
