Karen Powell Moody died on April 27, 2011after complications from breast cancer.
Karen was born on January 23, 1957 in Glasgow, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Stella Campbell. and Haynes Powell. She is survived by her husband Bobby K. Moody, daughter Kristin Moody, step-daughters Debbie Manning (Houston), Carmella Moody (Dennis Crosby) and Katrina Newell (Keith), brother Walter H. Powell and Aunts Katherine Leathers and Vivian Gaines. Karen was preceded in death by her son Bobby K. Moody, II. Her family and special friends Olivia and Robert Coburn were constantly by her side during her illness.
Karen was a graduate of Coker College and was employed by the Lake View School System as a Parenting Counselor and a sixth grade teacher. She was a member of Lake View First Baptist Church. Karen was kind-hearted, a great cook, loved animals and was devoted to her family and educating children.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:45 on Saturday May 30, 2011 at the Cook Funeral home in Lake View, SC. The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm at the Lake View First Baptist Church. Burial will follow the funeral services at the Lake View Cemetery. The family requests that memorials in Karen’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society and the Lake View First Baptist Church.
