Dillon Wildcats Fall 10-0 to Wilson Tigers

The Dillon Wildcats baseball team has had a few rough losses in the past week as they defeated Aynor 9-7 on Wednesday, but fell 17-2 to Waccamaw on Friday and 10-0 to Wilson on Monday.

In Monday’s game, the Class 3A Wilson Tigers defeated Dillon 10-0 as the Tigers brought up junior varsity pitcher Shawn Jordan for his first varsity start. The freshman pitched a two-hitter with two walks, striking out one in the victory.

The five inning game saw Wilson get off to an early start with a 3-0 lead by the end of the first inning. Wilson’s leading hitters included Telvin McCants, 2-for-2 with an RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs scored; Brandon Gleason, three hits and two runs scored; Michael Gardner, 1-for-4 with one run scored, two RBIs, and three stolen bases. Carnell Montgomery also scored for Wilson, and L.T. Planter hit a double with an RBI.

Dillon’s Daniel Huggins took the loss on the mound. He allowed no hits, but gave up three runs, one earned run, and two walks in a third of an inning pitched.

Dillon’s record falls to 7-7 with a 5-4 record in Region 8-2A, while Wilson’s overall record rises to 7-11.

The Wildcats had a second shot at Wilson on Wednesday night when they were scheduled to host the Tigers. Tonight they’ll be hosting Loris in a makeup game from April 1. It will be the last conference game this season for Dillon as well as the last game of the regular season. Make plans to come out and support our local team!
