Dillon’s Lady Wildcats Defeat Aynor 2-1, Fall to Waccamaw Warriors 14-6

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats defeated Aynor 2-1 in a makeup match on Thursday, April 14, before falling to Waccamaw 14-6 on Friday, April 15.

Thursday’s game came down to a pitcher’s duel between Dillon’s Shaquailla German and Aynor’s Shelby Culler in the low-scoring game. Dillon got one run in the first and one run in the third for the win, but despite eight hits, they failed to bring in a third. Aynor, meanwhile, was held scoreless right up until the sixth inning, when they got their only run of the game, despite seven hits of their own.

German was the winning pitcher, going the complete game with only seven hits and one run, striking out six. Culler also pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits, two runs, and one earned run, striking out four.

Dillon’s lead hitters were Rebecca Callahan, 2-for-3, and Taylor Price, 2-for-3.

On Friday, Waccamaw traveled to Dillon and managed to get a 14-4 win over the Wildcats, ensuring a spot in the 2A playoffs.

Shaquailla German went 3-for-3 with a double for the Wildcats, and Taylor Price went 3-for-4 with one run scored. Darby Hamer was the losing pitcher.

The Warriors got 20 hits and Waccamaw’s Tricia Hood went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Eight other Warriors got hits, and Melaina Moore was the winning pitcher.

Dillon’s record falls to 17-6 overall and 8-1 in Region 8-2A.

Tuesday night, the Wildcats will hosted Loris at 6:30 p.m. in a makeup game from April 1. Tonight, the Wildcats will host Fairmont in the final game of the regular season.

BASEBALL

Dillon’s baseball team fell to Waccamaw 2-17 on Friday, April 15, in a five-inning game.

Scores for Wednesday’s game at Aynor were not available at press time.
