Dillon Track Team Wins Region 8-2A Championship

The Dillon High School boys and girls track teams won the Region 8-2A championship in a region meet in Dillon on Thursday, April 14. Both teams will be headed to Charleston on May 7 to represent Dillon in the Lower State Championships.

Dillon’s teams dominated the meet on Thursday with Dillon coming away with wins in almost every event.

In the 4×100 Girls Relay, Deajan Tyson, Kadejah Sellers, Jessica Manning, and Kedisha Davis finished with a time of 50.28. Jessica Manning, Linzy Boatwright, Pamela Robinson, and Kadejah Sellers finished at 4.36 in the 4×400 Relay. In the 4×800 Relay, Chea Carmichael, Linzy Boatwright, Jamesa Bethea, and Pamela Robinson finished with a time of 11.20.

The 100-meter Dash saw Kedisha Davis finish at 12.79; Jessica Manning, 13.31; Deajan Tyson, 13.68; and Justice McLellan, 13.41. In the 200-meter Dash, Kedisha Davis finished at 27.71 and Justice McLellan finished at 29.69. The 400-meter Dash saw Pamela Robinson finish at 102.6; Jessica Manning at 103.0; and Kadejah Sellers at 104.82.

In the 800-meter Run, Linzy Boatwright finished at 300, Angelica McCollum at 304, and Raven Harrison at 317. In the 1600-meter Run, Linzy Boatwright finished with a time of 6.45. Chea Carmichael finished at 6.47; Raven Harrison, 7.26; and Jamesa Bethea, 7.27. And in the 3200-meter Run, Jamesa Bethea finished at 16.50.

In the 400 meter Hurdles, Chea Carmichael earned a time of 119.2, while Valiza Hamilton went 14 feet, 2 inches in the Long Jump.

In Shotput, Zipporah Lighty threw for 33 feet, 10 inches and Dezirae Wright went 25 feet, nine inches. In Discus, Lighty threw 96 feet, 11 inches and Wright threw 71 feet, nine inches.

In the boys track events, Donald Bethea, Nathaniel Carmichael, Tyreek Hayes, and Ahmad Nelson, with alternate Devon Washington, finished with a time of 44.46. In the 4×400 Relay, Donald Bethea, Shaqui Cabbagestalk, Ranbrian Gray, and Tyreek Hayes, with alternate Ryshod Ladson, ran for a time of 3.50. In the 4×800, Ranbrian Gray, Shaqui Cabbagestalk, Shakeem Sellers, and Ryshod Ladson, with alternate Randdrian Gray, finished with a time of 9.35.

In the 100-meter Dash, Ahmar Nelson finished with a time of 11.64 and Donald Bethea finished at 11.8. Nathaniel Carmichael also ran, and Tyreek Hayes was an alternate. In the 200-meter Dash, Ahmar Nelson finished at 24.59. Nathaniel Carmichael finished at 26.46, and Nathaniel Eagle finished at 26.68. Devon Washington was an alternate. In the 400-meter Dash, Tyreek Hayes finished at 100.69; Nathaniel Eagle at 103.94; and Hakeem Harrison at 110.56.

In the 800-meter Run, Ranbrian Gray finished at 2.21 and Ryshod Ladison finished at 2.22, with Trey Reaves finishing at 2.50. In the 1600, Shakeem Sellers finished at 5.53. In the 3200, Kevin Stackhouse finished at 13.55, and Markale Ford finished at 13.70.

In the 110-meter Hurdles, Tyreek Hayes finished at 17.25.

In Shotput, Ja’red Vanderhall threw for 35 feet, 5 inches, and in Discus, he threw 104 feet, 3 inches.
