Latta continued a winning softball season by defeating the Carvers Bay Bears 10-4 on Friday.
Latta scored in the second and third to put them up 3-0, but Carvers Bay tied things up in the fourth. The Lady Vikings reclaimed the lead in the fifth, bringing in six runners to put them ahead 9-3. Both teams added one more point in the seventh.
Latta’s Hannah Rogers pitched four innings, giving up only four hits and one earned run. She struck out five players.
Lake View’s leading hitters included Kaitlyn Lewis, Page Lovette, and Charise Braddy, who all went 2-for-4. Lewis and Braddy each had a RBI.
Latta’s regular season record is now 3-0, with a 1-0 Region 8A record. Including preseason action, Latta’s overall record is now 6-5-1.
The Lady Vikings will take on Green Sea-Floyds tonight at 5:30 p.m. and are scheduled to host Lamar on Wednesday at 5:30.
BASEBALL
In baseball action, the Vikings defeated Creek Bridge on Tuesday and were scheduled to take on Carvers Bay on Friday. Scores from Friday’s game were not available at press time.
Next up, the Vikings were scheduled to take on Kingstree on Monday and Green Sea-Floyds tonight at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, they’ll travel to face Lee Central.
