Jordan Miller led the Lake View Wild Gators to an 8-2 victory over the Latta Vikings Wednesday night with six shutout innings.
Lake View scored five points in the first inning to put them ahead of Latta from the outset. They added one point each in the second, fourth, and sixth innings, while Latta only scored added its two points in the seventh.
Miller gave up only two hits and made two strikeouts in the six innings he pitched. The losing pitcher, Latta’s River Owns, pitched only one and a third innings but gave up four hits and five earned runs.
Miller was also a leading hitter for Lake view, going three-for-four. Cody Cox and Chris Ford each went two-for-four in the victory.
Latta’s leading hitters were M. Rogers who went two-for-three and J. Bowens who went two-for-two.
Lake View’s preseason record is now 3-0, while the Vikings fall to 2-1.
The Latta/Marlboro preseason invitational continued on Friday at 7:30 p.m., when Lake View took on Dillon for the tournament championship. Latta was scheduled to play Marlboro in the final round.
