Dillon’s Chelsea Frazier has been named a finalist for the 2011 Hoop Star of the Year.
The Hoop Stars of the Year campaign is presented by the U.S. Army and honors the best high school basketball players in South Carolina. The U.S. Army’s Florence Recruiting Company announced the list of finalists on Saturday, February 26.
Chelsea Frazier of Dillon leads the pack of girls finalists, which also includes Jazz Green of Darlington, Briana Kelly of South Florence, Brittany Rowell of Mullins, Anna Taylor of Williamsburg Academy, and Candice Wright of Marion, among others.
The list of boys finalists includes Dan Cooley of Marlboro Academy, Trevor Dantzler of Mullins, Devan Joint of Darlington, and Vic Williams of Creek Bridge.
According to a press release, fans voted online for weekly winners, with each weekly winner becoming an automatic finalist for the Hoop Star of the Year. Each weekly winner received a t-shirt and certificate. The finalist who receives the most votes after 14 days of voting will be named the Hoop Star of the Year.
Voting will be open Monday, February 28, through midnight on Sunday, March 13. The winner will be announced on Monday, March 14. Visit www.thesportsflash.com to vote.
