Jewell Grantham Campbell Smith, 88, died in McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, Saturday, February 26, 2011. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon, SC. Funeral services will be held in the Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon, at 4:00 PM, Monday, February 28, 2011 with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born May 13, 1922 in Lake View, SC, the daughter of the late Annabel Harrington and Claude Temple Grantham. She was the widow of George Brown Campbell, II and Lucian Green Smith. She was a banker and was retired from the South Carolina National Bank. She attended Landers College and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dillon. She was a member of the Alice Hobeika Sunday School Class, Morning Misson Circle, Dillon Literary Club, and the St. Eugene Hospital Auxillary.
She is survived by her sons, George Brown (Kathi) Campbell, III of Dillon, SC and Lucian Green (Vonnie) Smith, Jr. of Hemingway, SC, her daughter, Marilyn Smith (Gregg) Nishimoto of Denver, CO, and her brother, Claude Temple (Loretta) Grantham, Jr. of Lake View, SC. She was predeceased by her daughter, Judith Kathryn Campbell Hewitt, and her sisters, Mildred G. Birkmaier and Lois G. Proctor.
