The Dillon Christian Lady Warriors were eliminated from regional playoffs on Thursday with a 39-33 loss to the Byrnes Schools Trojans.
The Trojans got a huge lead in the first quarter when they outscored the Warriors 22-2, but the Lady Warriors battled back in the second to go 13-10 to put the score at 32-15 at the half. The teams were almost evenly matched in the third, with the Trojans outscoring DCS by one point, 5-4.
The Dillon Christian girls worked hard in the fourth to mount a comeback, keeping Byrnes to only two points and scoring 14. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough to put them past the Trojans, who earned the six-point victory, 39-33.
The Lady Warriors were led by Morgan Graham with a team-high 12 points. Emily Prutzman made six points, and Kylee Sullivan scored three, with Lauren Lee, Amanda Bass, and Kathryn Brown each adding four points.
The Lady Trojans were led by Meghan Osborne with a game-high 15 points and Mary Gregg with 11. Bree Jett scored eight points, Sarah Holladay earned one, and Kayli Mclaughlin and Amy Galloway each made two points.
The Byrnes Schools record improves to 20-8 overall and 14-1 in SCISA 4-2A. They continued on in the tournament to face Carolina Academy on Saturday at West Florence.
The Lady Warriors end the season with a 2-16 overall record and 0-15 in the region.
According to the regular season stats entered by Coach Lanny Carpenter, the DCS girls averaged 34 points per game this season and earned a total of 590 points. Seniors Morgan Graham and Amber Wiggins earned the most points for the Lady Warriors, with Graham earning 214 points and averaging 12.6 points per game, and Wiggins adding 171 points and averaging 10.1 per game. Lauren Lee made 76 points and averaged 4.5 per game; Kylee Sullivan, 49 and 2.9; Amanda Bass 34 and 2.0; Kathryn Brown 28 and 1.6; and Emily Prutzman 18 points and 1.1 average points per game.
Graham made 18 successful three-pointers this season, and sophomore Lauren Lee made 11. Sophomore Kylee Sullivan had eight three-pointers and Amanda Bass had four. Amber Wiggins had the most successful free throws, 49 out of 79 attempts. Graham made 36 out of 93; Lee, 13 out of 47; Brown, 10 out of 22; Sullivan, 9 out of 15; and Bass, 6 out of 9.
Graham also had 34 assists this season and picked up 75 rebounds. Graham made the most steals, with 127 to her credit.
Amongst private schools in the Pee Dee, Wiggins picked up more rebounds than any other player this season with 116 offensive and 137 defensive for a total of 253. Wiggins had 14 assists and also made 53 steals.
Sullivan made 21 assists, 23 total rebounds, and 16 steals. Lee had 20 assists, picked up 42 rebounds, and made 27 steals. Prutzman made eight assists, 74 rebounds, and nine steals. Bass had seven assists, 24 rebounds and 10 steals. Brown made five assists, 65 rebounds, and 13 steals.
Graham, Wiggins, Lee, and Prutzman each made three blocks this season, with Brown making two and Sullivan making one. The team had a combined total of 342 turnovers and 250 personal fouls.
