Lady Gators Triumph 71-49; Gators Defeated 71-54

Lake View’s Lady Gators added a big 71-54 win over Creek Bridge on Friday, February 4, while the Gators fell to the Warriors 71-54.

The Lady Gators got things started by outscoring the Lady Warriors 25-11 in the first quarter. The Warriors rallied a bit in the second to top Lake View 15-10, but they were still down by nine points at the half.

Any hope the Warriors had for a come back was crushed in the third when the Lady Gators outscored Creek Bridge 29-16, putting them firmly in the lead with 64-42. Both teams added seven points in the fourth to give the Lady Gators a 22 point win, 71-49.

Tranya Ford led the Lady Gators to victory with 28 points. Ford made 13 steals and two assists, sinking four of five free throw attempts.

Jaquana Davis added 17 points to the win, picking up seven rebounds and making six steals, four blocks, and three assists. Chessie Miller earned 12 points for Lake View, making six two-pointers and nabbing six rebounds. Miller also made four assists and two steals.

Britney Washington scored eight points for the Lady Gators and picked up seven rebounds, with four assists and two steals. Pamela Butler added four points from two successful two-pointers, and Taylor Wallace added two points by making two of two attempted free throws.

Aiding in the victory were Tiffany Waters with four rebounds, two blocks, two steals, and an assist; Amber Locklear with one rebound; and Jessica Munos with two rebounds.

The win improves the Lady Gators’ record to 6-8 overall and 6-4 in Region 8-A.

The Wild Gators fell to the Warriors by 17 points Friday. Creek Bridge got off to an early lead by outscoring Lake View 18-11 in the first, but the Gators evened things out a big in the second, earning 18 points to the Warrior’s 16 to put them down by only five points at the half, 34-29. Creek Bridge kept up their scoring consistent in the third and fourth, going 18-10 and 19-13 to earn the win.

The Warriors were led by Charles Green with a game-high 23 points, Vic Williams with 19 points, Rashawn Rogers with 11, and Rakeem Williams with 10. Chris Crawford and Jerrod mason each added four points to the win.

Lake View was led by Jordan Miller with 14 points and Chris Ford with seven. Darius Leonard added six points, and Jamal Ford and Marvin McDaniel each added five, while Michael Page and Rashaun McDonald each added four. Shaquille Foxworth scored three points, and Jamar Homer and Antonio Butler each earned two.

Creek Bridge improved to 16-5 and 7-3 in the region, while Lake View remains winless at 0-13.

Lake View will take on Hemingway on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. before hosting Latta on Thursday, February 10, in the final game of the season.
