Don Barclay

 Services for Allen Donald “Don” Barclay will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Latta Presbyterian Church with burial in Kentyre Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home.

     Mr. Barclay, 80, died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
     Born in Columbus, Ohio, July 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Alan Barclay, Dorothy Schoff Barclay and step-mother, Mildred Barclay.  He was a member of Latta Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder.  He retired from Lutex Chemical Company, and after he retired, he operated Chris’ Pack House, and was the Resource Manager with the Dillon County Historical Society. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Barclay was past-president of the Dillon County Historical Society, and served on the City of Dillon Board of Architectural Review.  He was recently involved in the Rosenwald School Initiative, working toward saving the remaining Rosenwald Schools in Dillon County.  Mr. Barclay served on the Marion-Dillon Board of Disabilities and Special Needs.
     Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Lou McIntyre Barclay of Dillon; daughters, Shelley Barclay of New York City, and Chris Barclay of Dillon; sister, Ruth Ann (Tom) Weidner of Lancaster, Ohio; family friend, Mona Stiles of New York City; several nieces and nephews.
