Danny Legrande Webster

Danny Legrande Webster, 68, died Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC, while being comforted by his wife and children, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.
Born in Dillon County, SC, December 8, 1951, he was the son of the late Arthur Monroe Webster and the late Shirley Christenburg Webster.
He began working at a young age, selling newspapers for The Dillon Herald. While growing up and into adulthood, he was also an integral part of several family-owned businesses.
After graduating high school, he began working as a maintenance technician. He worked in maintenance for fifty years, only stopping because he was no longer able to work due to illness.
He was an active member of Dothan Baptist Church, where he served as a Training Union teacher.
He was also a retired member of Dillon County Station 9, where he served for twenty-four years. While with the fire department, he served as Assistant Fire Chief and Chief Fire Officer. He also helped maintain the fleet of vehicles, and he helped establish the live-burn training center. He received the honor of being Department Firefighter of the Year in 2002, and he was a former member of Latta Rescue Squad where he served as an EMT.
Survivors include his “dear” wife of thirty-seven and a half years, Donna; son, Dean (Kim) Webster of Latta; daughter, Beth W. (Travis) Jackson of Dillon; brother, Dr. John A. (Victoria) Webster of Roswell, GA; sister, Kathy W. (Johnny) Bryant of Dillon; grandchildren, Shane Webster and Lindsay Webster, both of Latta; five nephews; four nieces; three great-nephews; one great niece; one great niece on the way; special friends and loved ones; and his faithful, four-legged companion, Buffy.
Mr. Webster was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Shirley Webster, and his Stepmother Florine C. Webster.
Services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home, with entombment following the service. Visitation was held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Due to COVID-19 and the CDC regulations, social distancing is required. Ten people at a time will be allowed for the visitation.
