Carolinas Art Guild Hears About Smithsonian Exhibit

Fifteen members of the Carolinas Art Guild met at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
Donna Borders introduced Pat Laird, member and guest speaker, who presented: “Crossroads: Change in Rural America”, scheduled as follows:
• May 7 – “Look and See: A Portrait of Wendell Berry” – 6:30 p.m. at the Ellis Performing Arts Center – Latta. This event is free and open to the public.
• May 18-June 29 – Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit in the Law Library of the old Dillon County Court House: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Saturday, June 8 and Saturday, June 22 – 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• June 8 – “Communal Pen Writing Workshop” – 10a.m.-1:30 p.m., Dillon County Library
• June 13 – “Evening with Judge Lockemy: All Roads Lead Home” , 6:30 p.m. – Dillon County Theatre
• Carolinas Art Guild has also sponsored a Young Artists Project.
This rural life mural, done by Lake View High School art students, will be on display at the “Crossroads” exhibit.
After Dorothy Bethea presented a financial report, Donna Borders led a discussion of plans for the Thursday, May 30, Art Show at 7:00 p.m. at Twin Lakes Country Club. She also reviewed the names of members responsible for different areas of this show. If you want to enter art work in the exhibit, contact Donna Borders (478-278-5898) to obtain entry forms by May 10, 2019. Club members will provide local civic clubs with promotional materials and submit newspaper articles.
This Art Show will include a Silent Auction. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Humane Society of Dillon County.
