Senator Kent Williams To Be Keynote Speaker At Harnethea B. Manning Scholarship Fund Musical

Senator Kent Williams will be the keynote speaker at the Harnethea B. Manning Scholarship Fund Musical.
The event will be held May 4th at 4:00 p.m. at Open Door Community Church, 1502 Commerce Drive, Dillon.

The event will also feature Ruby Owens, Daijour Huggins-Samuel, Sir Brock Mack, and the Dillon High School Choir.
Senator Williams is a native of Marion County and a graduate of Rains Centenary High, Florence-Darlington Tech and South Carolina State University.
He is a member and steward at St. James A.M.E. Church. He was elected to the South Carolina Senate in 2004 to represent Senate District 30 (Florence, Dillon, Marion, Marlboro and Horry Counties). He was sworn in for a fourth four-year term in November of 2016. His key committees include: Agriculture and Natural Resources; Chairman of Agriculture Subcommittee, 2015; Banking & Insurance; Finance; Fish, Game and Forestry; Labor, Commerce & Industry; and Legislative Oversight.
Past committees/commissions include Education Oversight Committee;; Behavioral Health Study Committee; South Carolina Housing Commission; Member of the Marion County Board of Education from 1998 to 2004, Chair – 4 years; 12th Judicial Circuit South Carolina Agriculture Commission; Duke Endowment Board; and the Marion District of the Rural Commission on Economic Development. He currently serves on: Marion County Healthcare Foundation Board; South Carolina Governor’s State Workforce Investment Board Joint North Carolina- South Carolina Boundary Commission.
He has worked for Independence Federal Savings and Loan Bank in Washington, D.C.; South Carolina State University; Clemson Extension Service; and is currently the Deputy County Administrator for Marion County
He is a recipient of numerous awards.
