Wildcats Edge Out Swamp Foxes

The Dillon Wildcats edged the Marion Swamp Foxes 8-6 in varsity baseball action in a game played in Marion on Tuesday, March 26.
Dillon managed to place 2 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. Marion answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first inning. The Swamp Foxes managed to get a run across home in the bottom of the third inning to knot the score at 2. Dillon responded with 2 runs in the top of the fourth that was answered with a run by Marion in the bottom of the fourth. Marion took a 2-run lead in the bottom of the fifth inning by scoring 3 runs. The Wildcats placed 3 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth inning.
Dillon connected for 11 hits while holding Marion to 5 hits.
Dillon’s Noah Carter had a double, a single, and 3 rbi in his 3 at-bats. BoBo McKinnon had 2 hits and 2 rbi in his 3 at-bats. Ja’Teil Lester had a double and 2 rbi in his 3 at-bats.
Marion’s Qua’liek had a triple and 2 rbi in his 2 at-bats while John Reed connected for a double in his 4 at-bats.
BoBo McKinnon was the winning pitcher. He pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed 4 hits, 6 runs of which 5 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 6.
Teric Reaves was charged with the loss. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 6 hits, 5 runs of which 3 were earned, walked 4, and struck out 4.
Dillon committed 2 errors in the game, and Marion committed 4 errors in the game.
Dillon is 2-4 for the season and 2-3 in Region 6-3A.
Dillon will travel to Cheraw today (Tuesday, April 2) for a 6:30 p.m. game.
