The Dillon Lady Wildcats sank the Lumberton Lady Pirates 48-38 on Saturday, December 22.
The Tournament MVP was Jykya Bell, and Adrianna Ervin and Chyna Pouncey made the All Tournament team.
After the first quarter of play, the teams were knotted at 11.
At halftime the Lady Wildcats found themselves trailing by 5 points, 25-20. After 3 quarters the Lady Wildcats were up by 1 points, 34-33.
Dillon’s Jykya Bell sank six 2-point baskets and connected for one 3-point shot while Chyna Pouncey connected for three 2-point shots and 1 free throw. Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon connected for 6 points including two 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. Shantazia Gordon also scored 6 points on three 2-point baskets.
Alyse Hines and Maleah Carter each sank a 2-point shot. Lumberton’s M. Canady connected for 14 points by sinking one 2-point, one 3-point shot and 9 free throws out of 12 attempted ones. A. Simpson scored 12 points including five 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. R. O’Neil connected for 6 of 9 free throw attempts plus a 3-point basket for 9 points. A. Stubbs sank a long 1 for 3 points. Dillon committed 9 fouls in the first half and 9 fouls in the second half while Lumberton was guilty of 8 fouls in the first half and 8 fouls in the second half.
