August 14, 2018

The Latta School Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the District Administrative Conference Room.
Trustees present were Kyle Berry, Ray George, Vanessa Harrison, Kwama Hennagan, Eleanor Powers, and JoAnn Williamson. Stuart Poston was absent.
Chair Kyle Berry welcomed all present and Dr. John Kirby opened with prayer.
There being nor corrections or additions to the June 12, 2018 minutes and the current agenda, Chair Kyle Berry ruled that they stand approved.
Donna Taylor presented the status report for May 2018 and June 2018 on the General Fund budget.
Donna Taylor updated the Board on final adjustments to the 2018-2019 school year budget.
Donna Taylor updated the Board on the audit letter from Harper, Poston & Moore, P.A.
Latta Middle School and Latta High School electives needing Board approval were presented by George Liebenrood. A motion to approve the electives was made by ray George and seconded by Kwame Hennegan. Vote was unanimous.
Dollie Morrell updated the Board on the 2018-2019 school year master schedule improvements for Latta Elementary School.
Debra Morris updated the Board on the 2018-2019 school year master schedule improvements for Latta Middle School.
Leigh Sloan updated the Board on the 2018-2019 school year master schedule improvements for Latta High School.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on preliminary test scores results.
George reminded Board members that the next Hall of Fame meeting will be held on September 11, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.
Dr. John Kirby gave an operational report on maintenance of grounds and school buses.
Eleanor Powers shared the Ellis Performing Arts Center upcoming events with Board.
An update on out of district students requests was given by Dr. John Kirby.
Dr. Kirby updated the Board on the five-year budget outlook.
An update on future capital needs was given by Dr. John Kirby.
Dr. Kirby updated the Board on the Latta Middle School and Latta High School roof project.
Fall athletic schedules were given to each Board member.

NEW
BUSINESS:
Upon the principals; recommendation, a motion to approve the resignations and hiring of current staff was made by Eleanor Powers and seconded by JoAnn Williamson. Vote was unanimous.
There being no further business, Chair Kyle Berry adjourned the meeting at 7:56 p.m.
