Latta Drops Game Two Of State Title Series With Chesnee

The Latta Vikings dropped game 2 of the 2A state baseball championship series in Chesnee on Thursday, May 17, by only one run, 2-1.
The Vikings scored their lone run in the top of the first inning on a Pierce Watson ground-out.
Chesnee knotted the game at 1 in the bottom of the first inning when Nate Lamb singled.
The winning run for Chesnee came in the bottom of the third inning on an error.
Chesnee managed 8 hits in the game including 2 singles, a walk, and 2 rbi in Nate Lamb’s 3 at-bats. D. Williamson connected for 3 singles and scored a run in his 4 at-bats while B. Walker singled and scored a run in his 2 at-bats. J. Bishop garnered a single in his 3 at-bats, and H. Hammett singled in his 4 at-bats.
Latta’s Dylan Brewer tripled, picked up a walk, and scored a run in his 3 at-bats while McLeod Carmichael connected for a single in the only other hit garnered by a Latta player in the game. Jackson Powers also managed a walk in the game.
Latta committed 6 errors, and Chesnee was guilty of 3 errors.
A. Brown picked up the win while pitching 7 innings. He allowed only 2 hits, struck out 7, walked 2, and allowed a run that was not earned.
Noah Henderson suffered the loss. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 8 hits, struck out 7, walked 2,and allowed 2 runs of which 1 was earned.
Game 3 of the 2A state baseball championship was played on Saturday, May 19, at Lexington County Stadium in Columbia.
