At its April 17, 2018 Board Meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the hire of William H. Moody, Jr. as Gilbert Primary School’s new principal effective July 1, 2018.
As an experienced educator, Moody possesses a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from The College of Charleston, a Master of Education in Elementary Guidance and Counseling from the University of South Carolina, and a Second Master of Education in Educational Leadership.
In 1998, he began his career as a school counselor in the School District of Newberry County, first at Reuben Elementary School as school counselor from 1998 to 2003 and then at Gallman Elementary School as school counselor from 2003 to 2005.
In 2005, he joined Richland School District Two as a counselor at Round Top Elementary School in Blythewood.
Named Teacher of the Year three times, Moody represented his schools in the District teacher of the Year process.
In 2014, Moody was promoted to his current position of assistant principal at Round Top Elementary School.
Dr. Greg Little, Lexington District One Superintendent, reflected, “ We went through an extensive interview process that involved focus groups with staff and parents as well as a multi-step process that included the analysis of school data in order to find a strong principal for Gilbert Primary School.
William Moody is an empathetic and confident leader with strong people and communication skills. We are happy to welcome him to Lexington District One.
The Palmetto State School Counselor Association named him the South Carolina Elementary School Counselor of the Year in 2009. He also served that organization as elementary vice president, president-elect and president, and was the statewide conference chair in 2014.
