Darlington edged the Latta Lady Vikings 6-4 in varsity softball action played in Darlington on Friday, April 13.
Darlington took the lead with 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning. However, Latta placed 4 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning to take a 1-run lead. Darlington knotted the score at 4 each with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Darlington added another run in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings while holding Latta scoreless.
Darlington also edged by Latta with 2 hits while outhitting Latta 8-6.

Latta returned home from Hemingway with a 10-1 victory over Carvers Bay on Wednesday, April 11.
Arica Gandy picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 5 hits, walked no one, struck out 4, and allowed 1 run that was not earned.
D. Baker was charged with the loss. She pitched 4 innings and allowed 7 hits, walked no one, struck out no one, and allowed 6 runs of which 4 were earned.
Latta pounded out 13 hits while holding Carvers Bay to only 5.
Each team committed an error in the game.
Latta got on the scoreboard in the first inning on a Kyra Grant double that scored a run. Latta added another run in the top of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. Carvers Bay placed their only run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning to cut Latta’ lead to only 1 run.

Vikings Cruise To Win
The Latta Vikings cruised to a 15-0 win over Carvers Bay in Hemingway on Wednesday, April 11, in varsity baseball.
Latta’s Kody Anderson and Noah Henderson combined to pitch a shut-out.
Noah Henderson picked up the win for Latta as he threw for 1.1 innings and allowed 1 hit, struck out 2, walked 2, and did not allow a run while Kody Anderson pitched 2.2 innings and allowed no runs, struck out 4, and did not walk anyone.
R. Dennis was charged with the loss for Carvers Bay. He pitched 4 innings and allowed 15 hits and 15 runs, and struck out 3.
Latta committed 3 errors in the game while Carvers Bay committed 6 errors.
Latta jumped out to an early 11-0 lead in the top of the first inning and placed 4 more runs on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning to close out the game based on the 15-0 rule.

Gators Triumph
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators triumphed over Lake City 10-0 in varsity softball action on Thursday, April 12, in a 10-run rule, 6-inning game played in Lake City.
Lake View jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and continued to add runs. In the top of the second inning, the Lady Wild Gators added 3 runs and in the top of the third inning they added another run. Lake View added 3 runs in the top of the fourth inning. The final run that the Lady Wild Gators placed on the scoreboard came in the top of the sixth inning.
Lake View pounded 15 hits while holding Lake City to only 2 hits.
The Lady Wild Gators’ Alex Elliott connected for 3 hits in 4 at-bats including a home run plus she picked up 4 rbi in the game! Kaylee Herlong and Kyrsten James each also garnered 3 hits in 4 at-bats. Spivey Evans also connected for 2 hits and a rbi in 4 at-bats.
Grace Floyd picked up the win for Lake View. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 2, struck out 7, and allowed no runs.
Courtney Cox was tagged for the loss. She pitched 6 innings and allowed 15 hits, walked 3, struck out 1, and allowed 10 runs that were all earned.
Lake View is 12-2 for the season and 5-2 in Region 6-A.
Lake View will travel today, Tuesday, April 17, to Hannah Pamplico for a 5:30 p.m. game.

Wildcats Suffer Defeat
The Dillon Wildcats returned home from Florence on Thursday, April 12, after suffering an 8-2 defeat to South Florence.
The teams were unable to score until the bottom of the third inning when South Florence place 2 runs on the scoreboard. The Wildcats answered with a run of their own in the top of the fourth inning and added another run in the top of the fifth inning to knot the score. However, South Florence responded in the bottom of the fifth inning to once again go up by 1 run, 3-2. Dillon was unable to muster any more runs in the game. South Florence added 5 huge runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 8-2 lead.
Dillon managed to connect for 5 hits and held South Florence to only 4 hits. Dillon’s Jon-Mitchell Carter connected for 2 hits and a rbi in 3 at-bats.
South Florence’s Korique Rainey hit a double and garnered 2 rbi in his 1 at-bat. Austin Moore also went 1 for 3 and garnered 2 rbi. Ethan Goodale picked up the win. He pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 hits, walked 1, struck out 5, and allowed 2 runs that were earned.
Dylan Windham was tagged with the loss. He pitched 4 and 2/3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs that were earned, walked 2, and struck out 1. Dillon committed 3 errors. South Florence did not commit any errors in the game.

Wildcats Hold On For Win
The Dillon Wildcats held on for a 5-3 win over Aynor in varsity baseball in Dillon on Wednesday, April 11.
Although Aynor connected for 6 hits in the game and held Dillon to only 3 hits, Dillon managed to place more runs on the scoreboard.
The Wildcats scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and another one in the bottom of the third. Dillon also placed 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth to have a 5-0 lead. However, Aynor placed 3 runs of their own in the top of the sixth to cut Dillon’s lead to 2. Dillon’s Noah Carter garnered a double in 3 at-bats.
Dillon committed only 1 error while Aynor was guilty of 3 errors.
The Wildcats’ Billy McGirt struck out 11 in 5 innings. He allowed 4 hits, walked 2, and allowed 2 earned runs to capture the win.
Jon-Mitchell Carter picked up the save. He pitched 2 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 3, struck out no one, and allowed 1 earned run.
Tanner Allen was charged with the loss. He pitched 3 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked 2, struck out 2, and allowed 3 runs of which only 1 was earned.

Latta And EC Split
In a double-header between Latta and East Clarendon played on Tuesday, April 17, in Turbeville, the two teams split with Latta edging East Clarendon 9-7 in the first game and in the second game, East Clarendon edged Latta 5-3.
Latta’s Jena Stutler picked up the win in the first game. She pitched 3 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked one, struck out 2, and allowed 2 runs of which 1 was earned.
Jordan Perritt started the game and pitched 4 innings for Latta. She allowed 2 hits, walked 3, and allowed 5 runs of which 3 were earned.
Maddie Newsome was tagged with the loss. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 10 hits, walked no one, struck out 3, and allowed 9 runs of which 7 were earned. The Latta Vikings picked up a 15-0 shut-out over Kingstree in varsity baseball on Tuesday, April 17, in Latta in the 15-run rule, shortened game.
The Vikings managed 6 hits while holding Kingstree to the lone single by D. Singletary.
Kingstree committed 5 errors in the game while Latta committed only 1 error.
Latta’s Chase Mishue connected for a single, a double, 2 rbi, and scored 2 runs in his 2 at-bats while Russ Rogers hit a triple, a single, a rbi, and scored 3 runs. DCS Edges Out King’s Academy
The Dillon Christian School Warriors edged The King’s Academy 3-2 in varsity baseball action played in Dillon on Friday, April 13.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and held on to win.
The King’s Academy managed to score a run in the top of the fourth inning and another run in the top of the sixth inning.
The Warriors connected for 6 hits while holding The King’s Academy to 4 hits.
Dillon Christian School committed 1 error and The King’s Academy was guilty of 5 errors.
The Warriors’ Ereck Eck connected for a home run and 2 rbi in his 3 at-bats while Jared Ivey hit a double in his 2 at-bats. Ian Patterson also hit a double in his 3 at-bats. Barnes Causey picked up a rbi and a hit in 3 at-bats.
The King’s Academy Zach Dutton connected for a double in his 4 at-bats.

Marlboro Academy Hands DCS Loss
Marlboro Academy handed the Dillon Christian School Warriors a 20-0 loss in the 15-run rule, 3-inning varsity softball game played in Dillon on Tuesday, April 17.
Marlboro Academy managed only 7 hits in the game while holding the Warriors to only 1 hit.
The Warriors were plagued with 8 errors in the game. Marlboro Academy did not commit any errors.
Jenna Greene picked up the win for Marlboro Academy. She pitched 2 innings and allowed 1 hit, walked no one, struck out 3, and allowed no runs.
Madison Bailey was tagged with the loss. She pitched 2 and 2/3 innings allowed 5 hits, 14 runs of which 9 were earned, walked 6, and struck out no one.

Gators Come Up Short
The Lake View Wild Gators came up short in a 4-2 loss to Hannah-Pamplico in varsity baseball played in Pamplico on Tuesday, April 17.
Hannah-Pamplico placed a run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning and added 2 in the bottom of the third inning and led 3-0 until Lake View scored 2 runs in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to only 1 run. However, Lake View would not be able to score any more runs in the game. Hannah-Pamplico managed a run in the bottom of the fourth and held on to win 4-2 over the visiting Wild Gators.
Lake View mustered 4 hits in the game while holding Hannah-Pamplico to only 1 hit.
Lake View was guilty of 4 errors, and Hannah-Pamplico committed 3 errors in the game.
Lake View’s Webb Caldwell connected for a double and a rbi in his 3 at-bats.
Hannah-Pamplico’s Mason Hicks also connected for a double and 2 rbi in his 3 at-bats.

DCS Ladies Suffer Loss
The Dillon Lady Christian School Warriors returned home from Bishopville on Monday, April 16, after suffering a 10-0 loss to Robert E. Lee.
Robert E. Lee managed 10 hits while holding the Warriors to 4 hits.
Robert E. Lee placed a run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning, 2 in the second inning, 5 in the third inning, 1 in the fourth inning, and 1 in the fifth inning to close the game out in a 10-run rule, 5-inning game.
Robert E. Lee’s Carolina McCuthen was perfect at the plate with 3 hits and a rbi in 3 at-bats while Emmie McCthen connected for a hit and scored 2 runs in her 2 at-bats. Meg Gaskins connected for 3 hits including a home run and 2 rbi in her 4 at-bats.

The Latta Lady Vikings won both games of a double-header against Kingstree in Latta on Tuesday, April 17.
In the first game, Latta defeated Kingstree 13-0 in the 10-rule shortened game in which Kingstree managed single by #7.
Latta connected for 8 2 singles, 4 rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 3 at-bats. Jayla Jackson hit a triple, picked up 2 rbi, and scored a run in her 2 at-bats. The Vikings scored in all but one of the 6 innings played. Rayne Nolan garnered a walk, picked up a rbi and scored a run in her 1 plate appearance. Jesselyn Bryant picked up a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Kristin Woodle garnered a walk and scored 2 runs in her 1 plate appearance.
Latta did not commit an error in the game while Marion was guilty of 3 errors.
Jayla Jackson picked up the win. She pitched 2 innings, allowed 1 hit, walked no one, allowed no runs, and struck out 3. Jena Stutler pitched 1 inning and walked no one, struck out 1, and allowed no hits.
Carson Cribb took the loss for Marion. She pitched 1 inning and allowed 9 hits, 11 runs of which 8 were earned, walked 2, and struck out no one. Mary Waugh also pitched an inning. She allowed 3 hits, walked 4, struck out 2, and allowed 7 runs that were all earned.
Latta will travel to Hartsville today, Thursday, April 19, for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Wildcats Get 13-3 Win
The Dillon Lady Wildcats took a 13-3 win over Waccamaw in the 10-rule, 6-inning varsity softball game played in Dillon on Tuesday, April 17.
Monazia Sowells picked up the win for the Lady Wildcats.
After 4 and 1/2 innings, Dillon was up 8-3.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lexie Rogers hit one up the middle for a lead-off single. However, the Lady ‘Cats could not generate any more offense, and the runner was stranded on base.
Dillon managed to set Waccamaw down in 1, 2, 3 fashion in the top of the sixth inning.
Dillon’s Emilee Price led off the top of the sixth inning with a hot grounder up the middle for a lead-off single followed by Jayla Goodwin who hit another hot grounder up the middle. Qyiesah Wilson hit one to center to load the bases. Dillon’s #6 hit a grounder between third and the shortstop and a run scored to make the score 9-3. Nyeisha Wilson popped up a high one at home plate that was caught by the catcher for out 1. Lexie Rogers hit one to deep left center for a triple and 3 rbi. Brandi Turner hit a sacrifice fly to center, and Rogers scored from third for the 13-3 win.
The Lady Wildcats will travel to Darlington today, Thursday, April 19, for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Wildcats Defeat Waccamaw
The Dillon Wildcats took and 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning and held on to hand Waccamaw a 3-0 loss in Dillon on Tuesday, April 17.
Daniel Chestnut picked up the win. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 4 hits, no runs, walked 2, and struck out no one.
Caleb Colegrove was tagged with the loss for Waccamaw. He pitched 6 innings and allowed 4 hits, 3 runs of which were earned, walked 2, and struck out 4.
Dillon did not commit any errors in the game while Waccamaw committed 3.
Dillon’s Jon-Mitchell Carter connected for a double and a rbi in his 2 at-bats while Noah Carter also connected for a hit and a rbi in his 2 at-bats. Ty’Quan Rogers also garnered a hit in his 3 at-bats.
Dillon will host Georgetown on Friday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m.

DCS Loses To Marlboro Academy
Although the Dillon Christian School Warriors fought back late in the game, it was not enough to overtake Marlboro Academy’s early lead, and the Warriors lost a close one 10-8 on Tuesday, April 17, at home.
Marlboro Academy took an early 5-run lead in the top of the third inning and added 2 runs in the top of the fourth inning before Dillon Christian School could place 3 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. Marlboro Academy added 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning and the Warriors answered with 5 of their own in the bottom of the seventh.
Marlboro Academy connected for 10 hits in the game while Dillon Christian School managed 6 hits. The game was plagued with errors with Marlboro Academy committing 7, and the Warriors committed 4 errors.
Jonathan Wiggins connected for 3 hits and 4 rbi in his 4 at-bats for Marlboro Academy, and Devin Hardy garnered 2 hits and a rbi in 4 at-bats while Peyton Herndon managed a double in his 2 at-bats. Garrett Collins picked up 2 rbi and a hit in his 2 at-bats for the Warriors while Ian Patterson picked up a rbi and 2 hits in his 3 at-bats. Josh Griggs picked up the win for Marlboro Academy. He pitched 4 innings and allowed 2 hits, walked no one, struck out 9, and allowed no runs.
Barnes Causey was tagged with the loss. He pitched 2 and 1/3 innings and allowed 2 hits, 5 runs of which were earned, walked 1, and struck out 3.
Dillon Christian School will travel to Pee Dee Academy on Friday, April 20, for a 6:30 p.m. game.
