Wildcats Hand Loss To Waccamaw
The Dillon Lady Wildcats handed Waccamaw a 64-39 loss at Pawley’s Island on Thursday, February 8, in girls varsity basketball action.
The Lady Wildcats held a 14-point lead after the first period of play and was up by 20 points, 35-15, at halftime.
Waccamaw outscored Dillon in the third period of play 14-10. However, in the fourth period Dillon was on top with 19 points while Waccamaw had 10.
Dillon’s A’Doshia Graves connected for 20 points to lead the Lady Cats while Chyna Pouncey added 10. Shantazia Gordon placed 9 points on the scoreboard, and Jykya Bell added 8 points. Andrianna Irvin connected for 7 points in the game while Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon and Deanna Lane each had 4 points in the win. Maleah Carter garnered 2 points for the Lady Cats.
Aleah Bromell led Waccamaw in scoring with 13 points while Aniya Wilson added 9 points. Anna Franklin connected for 7 points while Sara Allston Phillips and Kayla Benson each added 4 points. Kayla Thomas also contributed 2 points.
Dillon was guilty of 4 personal fouls in the first half and seven personal fouls in the second half.

Lady Cats Get Win Over Loris
The Dillon Lady Wildcats returned home with a 57-45 win over Loris in a game played in Loris on Tuesday, February 6.
The Lady Widcats jumped out to a commanding 17-4 lead after the first period of play but found themselves down by 1 point, 26-25 at halftime. Dillon rebounded in the third period of play with 17 points to Loris’ 11 points. The fourth period Dillon placed 20 points on the scoreboard to Loris’ 10 points.
The Lady ‘Cats were led by Jykya Bell who connected for a game-high 24 points followed by Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon with 14 points.
A’Doshia Graves hit for 10 points while Chyna Pouncey and Shantazia Gordon each garnered 4 points for Dillon.
Both teams were guilty of 17 fouls each in the game.
The Lady ‘Cats can claim the Region 6-3A title with a win over Waccamaw in a game to be played tonight, Thursday, February 8, in Dillon.

Lady Vikings Hand Kingstree Loss
The Latta Lady Vikings handed Kingstree a 44-28 loss in Latta on Wednesday, February 7.
Latta held a 4-point lead, 11-7, after the first period of play. At halftime Latta was ahead 21-11. By the end of the third period of play, Latta was up by a dozen points.
The Vikings’ Moya McDuffie scored a game-high 21 points followed by Riana Greene who added 10 points in the win. Johnson connected for 8 points, and Arica Gandy and D. Green each garnered 2 points while Gordon picked up a point on a free throw.
Williashia Wilson, Aashanti Barr, and Owens each connected for 6 points for Kingstree while Tisdale added 4. Gamble and Wright each garnered 3 points.
Latta is 10-9 and 8-4 in Region 7-2A.
Latta will host Calhoun County in the Class 2A playoffs tonight, Tuesday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m.

Lady Vikings Get Win Over Andrews
The Latta Lady Vikings returned home Tuesday, January 30, with a 45-42 win over Andrews in a game played in Andrews.
The Latta Vikings held a 16-9 lead after the first period. At halftime, the Lady Vikings had a 24-10 lead. After 3 periods of play Latta was in the lead 32-21. Arica Gandy led Latta with a team-high 14 points followed by Riana Green who added 12 points in the win. Johnson added 8 points to the scoreboard while Campbell connected for 7 points. D. Green contributed 4 points.
Latta hosted Mullins on Friday, February 2.

Wild Gators Lose
The Lake View Wild Gators suffered a 71-44 loss to the Green Sea Floyds girls varsity basketball team on Wednesday, February 7, at Green Sea.
The 20-point production of Lake View’s Olivia McDaniel and the 17-point production of teammate Zandashia McNeil could not alter the outcome of the game. Tamara Jackson led Green Sea Floyds with 41 points.

Dillon Boys Fall To Loris
The Dillon Wildcats varsity boys fell to Loris 79-58 in Loris on Tuesday, February 6.
The Wildcats’ Jallian Williams placed 15 on the scoreboard with 7 of the points coming in the third period of play.
Dillon High made a good showing in the first half while making a 9-3 run. Ty’Quaries Rogers and Justin Green added 10 points each in the game while Corrain Wright connected for 6 points. Shamar McCollum hit for 3 points, and George Thompson and Daizon Alford each garnered 2 points for the “Cats.
Dillon made 47% of the 2-point attempts in the game while connecting on nearly 58% of the free throw attempts.
Dillon managed 12 offensive rebounds and 15 defensive ones.

Wildcats Get Win Over Waccamaw
The Dillon Wildcats returned home from Pawley’s Island on Thursday, February 8, with a 78-50 varsity boys basketball win over Waccamaw.
Dillon was in control of the game after a 33-10 run and held a 39-19 lead at halftime. Jallian Williams had the hot shooting hands and led Dillon with 22 points with 60% accuracy. Justin Green added 17 points, and Corrain Wright connected for 13 points. The Wildcats’ Shamar McCollum put 8 points on the scoreboard while Damari Ladson added 6 points. Darius Boatwright and George Thompson each contributed 4 points in the win, and Ty’Quaries Rogers and Ty’ric Porter each garnered 2 points.
The Wildcats managed to pull gown 26 offensive rebounds and 21 defensive ones.

Lake View Falls To Creek Bridge
The Lake View Wild Gators led 23-20 at halftime but came up short in the second half and fell to Creek Bridge 54-43 in a varsity game played in Marion on Monday, February 5. In the third period of play, Creek Bridge outscored Lake View 14-11 to knot the game at 34. Creek Bridge doubled Lake View’s scoring in the fourth period 20-10, to claim the win. Jahmier Hampton led Creek Bridge with a game-high 18 points followed by Theron Davis with 12 points. Godfrey added 8 points while Fladger hit for 5 points. Stackhouse added 4 points, and Dixon and Rogers each garnered 3 points. Tieray Blue connected for 16 points while Ja’Montrell Waters placed 15 on the scoreboard for Lake View. L’A’Zar Nichols and Larry Inman each had 4 points, and Jiqyle added 3 points. Remeer Sowells garnered 2 points. Lake View played Green Sea Floyds on Wednesday, February 7, for the final regular season game.

Lady Gators Drop Game

The Lake View Lady Wild Gators returned home Monday, February 5, after dropping a game, 58-51, to Creek Bridge in Marion.
Creek Bridge held a slim 1-point lead after the first period of play and managed to build a 4-point lead, 28-24, at halftime.
Lake View held a slim 1-point lead after 3 periods of play but came up short in the final period.
Creek Bridge’s Shay Brisco scored 22 points followed by Miracle Rowell with 14. McClendon connected for 9 points while White added 8 points. Morales hit for 3, and Phillips garnered 2 points in the win.
Lake View’s Janiyah Waters placed 24 points on the scoreboard while Olivia McDaniel connected for 10 points. Zandaisia McNeil added 6, and Milashia Wheeler added 5. Tatianna Blue hit for 4 points, and Kasi Page garnered 2 points.
Lake View traveled to Green Sea Floyds on Wednesday, February 7, for the final game of the regular season.

Lake View Gators Suffer Loss
The Lake View Wild Gators suffered a 75-40 loss to the Hemingway Tigers on Tuesday, January 30, in Hemingway. Darius Williams led Hemingway with a game-high 13 points followed by Cephon Lewis with 12. Parker added 9 points while Taylor contributed 8 points in the win. Lewis and Bryant each added 6 points, and K. Davis hit for 5 points. Singletary and Roberts each placed 4 points on the scoreboard. Wright, Julious, and M. Davis each garnered 2 points.
Fredrick Reaves led the Lake View Wild Gators with 11 points while Larry Inman added 10 points to the scoreboard. L’A’ Zar Nichols and Tieray Blue each connected for 6 points.
Willie Willie garnered 2 points. Lake View hosted East Clarendon on Friday, February 2, and on Monday, February 5 traveled to Creek Bridge.

Lady Warriors Come Up Short
The Lady Warriors came up short in the first period of play 15-7 and were not able to bounce back. By halftime, Pee Dee led 25-14. After 3 periods of play, Pee Dee Academy was up 38-19.
Samantha (Sam) Carpenter led the Dillon Christian School Warriors with 12 points followed by Sara Stone with 5 points and Anna Thompson with 4. Lizzie Outlar and Sara Freeman each placed 2 points on the scoreboard.
Anna Grace Johnson scored a game-high 22 points for Pee Dee while L. Martin connected for 7 points and M. Martin added 4 to the scoreboard. Carter and L. Johnson each contributed 3 points while Caulder added 2 points, and Brown garnered a point on a free throw.

Lady Vikings Hand Loss To Silver Bluff
The Latta Lady Vikings handed the Silver Bluff Lady Bulldogs a 56-39 loss in Latta on Tuesday, February 13, in Class 2A playoffs in varsity basketball.
Latta held a commanding 23-8 lead after the first period of play and continued to build on the lead. At halftime Latta was us 42-12. The Latta Lady Vikings managed only 3 points in the third period of play to Silver Bluff’s 9 points.
Latta’s Riana Green scored a game-high 30 points followed by Moya McDuffie who added 16 points. Arica Gandy connected for 8 points, and D. Green and Johnson each garnered a point in the win.

Jackson led Silver Bluff with 16 points. Drayton added 9 points, and Butler added 5 points. Gaines and Johnson each connected for 3 points, and Monroe garnered a point off a free throw.
Latta will travel to Woodland in the Class 2A playoffs on Friday, February 16, at 7:00

Dillon Gets Win Over Strom Thurmond
The Dillon Wildcats boys varsity basketball team returned home with a 66-59 win over Strom Thurmond of Johnston, S.C., on Tuesday, February 13, in 6-3A playoff action.
At halftime, the Wildcats found themselves trailing 30-26. The Wildcats racked up 29 points in the fourth period on a 22-3 run. Dillon committed 22 fouls while on the way to claiming this win.
Justin Green led Dillon in scoring with 15 points of which 3 of those points were on the charity line. Jallian Williams added 14 points in the win while Dillon’s Darius Boatwright placed 13 points on the scoreboard of which he connected for two 3-pointers. Shamar McCollum, Damari Ladson, and Corrain Wright each connected for 6 points in the game. Ty’Quaries Rogers added 4 points, and Zy’Aire Charles hit for 2 points. Dillon managed 26 offensive rebounds and 28 defensive rebounds in the game.
Dillon will travel on Friday, February 16, to Ridgeland-Hardeeville, to continue in the 6-3A playoffs.

Lady Wildcats Defeat Pelion
The Dillon Lady Wildcats advanced in 6-3A varsity basketball playoffs on Monday, February 12, with a 52-22 win over the Pelion Lady Panthers at a game played in Dillon.
From the opening tip-off, the Lady Wildcats picked up momentum and never looked back.

After the first period of play Dillon led 15-9 and by halftime was up 30-10. At the end of the third period of play Dillon led 39-17.
Jykya Bell scored a game-high 16 points for Dillon, and Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon added 13 points.
Chyna Pouncey placed 10 points on the scoreboard while A’Doshia Graves added 9 for the Lady Wildcats. Shantazia Gordon and Andrianna Irvin each connected for 4 points, and Deanna Lane garnered 2 points.
Raynie Arrender led Pelion with 5 points followed by Whitney Craft and Elaysia Keith with 4 points each while Hayley Gomas and Alisabeth Kneece each connected for 3 points. Kaitlyn Dorrah added 2 points, and Kartlyn Blanton garnered a point on a free throw.
Dillon is 17-3 for the season.
The Dillon Lady Wildcats will host Manning today, Thursday, February 15, at 6:00 p.m

Lady Cats Advance
The sixth-ranked Dillon Lady Wildcats advanced in 6-3A varsity basketball playoffs with a 51-39 win over the Manning Lady Monarchs in Dillon on Thursday, February 15.
Dillon led 12-8 after the first period of play. By halftime Dillon was up 26-12. In the third period of play Manning fought back and placed 15 points on the scoreboard’s to Dillon’s 9 points. In the fourth period of play the Manning Lady Monarchs closed the gap to 3 points but Dillon turned on the pressure to pull away.

Dillon’s Jykya Bell and Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon each placed 16 points on the scoreboard while Chyna Pouncey connected for 12 points. Shantazia Gordon hit for 4 points, and A’Doshia Graves added 3 points in the win.
Mahogany Green led Manning with 17 points. Measha Jones connected for 10 points, and Ariyonia Busby hit for 9 points. Nitayia York added 2 points, and Niyah Brand was successful on a free throw for a point.
Dillon committed 5 fouls in the first half and 8 fouls in the second half.
Manning committed 4 fouls in the first half and 9 fouls in the second half.
Dillon is 19-3 for the season.
With the win Dillon will travel to Swansea on Monday, February 19, for a semifinal game.

Season Ends For Lady Warriors
The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors suffered a 71-44 loss at the hands of Palmetto Christian in SCISA Class 2A basketball in a game played in Charleston on Friday, February 16, to end the season for the Lady Warriors.

Season Ends For Warriors
The Dillon Christian School Warriors boys varsity basketball season came to an end on Saturday, February 17, at the hands of Palmetto Christian, 80-49, in the SCISA Class 2A playoffs at Pinewood Prep in Summerville.

Wildcats Suffer Season-Ending Loss
The Dillon Wildcats varsity basketball season ended with a 72-59 loss at the hands of Ridgeland-Hardeeville in a game played in Ridgeland on Friday, February 16, in Class 3A playoffs.

Latta Ladies Fall To Woodland
The Latta Lady Vikings varsity basketball season ended with a 69-67 overtime loss to Woodland in a game played in Dorchester on Friday, February 16.
Latta found themselves down 14-1 after the first period of play but fought back to place 16 points on the scoreboard in the second period to 10 for Woodland. In the third period of play Latta was outscored by 1 point, 14-13. Latta knotted the score at 57 in the final period of regulation before forcing an overtime period.
Moya McDuffie placed a game-high 27 points on the scoreboard, and Riana Green added another 25 points. Arica Gandy and Johnson each connected for 5 points, and Bursdell added 3 points.
Janiah Washington connected fro 20 points for Woodland while Teona Goodwin hit for 18 points. Kimani Green hit for 11 points. Ravenell and Pearson each connected for 4 points while Moorer hit for 3. Smith garnered 2 points, and Govan picked up a point on a free throw.

Bell Named To All-State Team
The Dillon Lady Wildcats Jykya Bell was named to the 3A Girls SCBCA All-State Team in basketball.

Lady Wildcats Fall To Swansea
The Dillon Lady Wildcats varsity basketball season came to an end on Monday, February 19, at the hands of Swansea, 50-46, in a Class 3A lower state semifinal game played at Swansea.
Dillon’s Jykya Bell scored a team-high 18 points followed by Ja’Rhonda McCrimmon with 11 points. Shantazia Gordon added 7 for the ‘Cats while A’Doshia Graves connected for 6 points. Chyna Pouncey and Jayla Goodwin each garnered 2 points.
Danae McNeal led Swansea with 21 points while Lauryn Robinson added 15. Zharia Gillings contributed 10 points. Brittany Hampton added 4 points in the win.
