4-H Shooting Sports Club Starting Season

The Dillon County 4-H Shooting Sports Club is in the process of registering new members for the upcoming youth shooting season.
The annual year for 4-H began September 1 and the shooting club has already had two training sessions so far. Anyone interested in participating may contact the Clemson Extension Office in Dillon. The club host training events which will be held in Dillon County and also offers the chance to compete in youth shooting events all over the State of South Carolina
Members may choose what level they want to participate. Members can participate at their own desire from just training and development up to the competitive level. Members are not required to attend any competitive events if they do not want to and may want to come just learn firearms safety and marksmanship skills. Each individual can participate at their own level.
In the 1st training/practice of the season, team member Cole Gasque, shot a perfect round of 25 skeet targets without missing. On the skeet field there are 25 different targets with each one being at a different angle or combination. In recognition of shooting a perfect round, the shooter is awarded a 25-Straight patch.
The competitive youth shooting season Kicks off with a Trap shoot sponsored by 4-H and SCTP and hosted by Mid Carolina gun club in Orangeburg, SC on October 14. In total there are over 20 youth shooting competitions set up for 2017 and 2018 season with 4-H, SCTP, SCYSF, and SCDNR all sponsoring events.
There are many other opportunities from various clubs and teams hosting events for youth and adults.
The 1st competitive shoot will be a Trap event on October 14 and the last shoot on the schedule as of this date is scheduled for May 26, 2018 which will be the SCTP State Championship with events in Skeet, Trap and Sporting Clays. Winners in this event would be eligible to attend the National Championship which will be held in Ohio in July 2018.
