Alpha Lambda Chapter Awards Scholarships

The Alpha Lambda Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met recently.
A highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the chapter’s grant-in-aid scholarship, which is awarded annually to a deserving local female high school graduating senior who plans to pursue a degree in an education-related field.
This year the chapter awarded two scholarships – one to Genesis Anderson of Latta High School and one to Timesha Clements of Dillon High School. Both recipients will attend Charleston Southern University in the fall with plans to become teachers.

Candace is currently employed by Dillon School District Four as a teacher at East Elementary School, and she was Dillon School District Four’s District Teacher of the Year last year. She was endorsed for membership in Delta Kappa Gamma by Ann Carlson.
Terrie Hamer is currently employed by Dillon School District Four as a school nurse. She was endorsed for membership in DKG by Marcia Bethea. Alpha Lambda Chapter President, Marcia Bethea, presided over the contemporary Society ceremony, after which each initiate was presented her membership certificate, along with a long-stemmed red rose (the official flower of the Society).
