Dillon Junior Legion Defeats Lake View

The Dillon Junior Legion baseball team defeated Lake View 3-1 in Dillon on Monday, June 5.
Jared Darmon picked up the win while pitching 4.1 innings. He allowed only 1 hit, walked 1, struck out 2, and an unearned run scored.
Dillon’s Bobo McKinnon led off with a single up the middle in the bottom of the first inning. He stole second and advanced to third when Daniel Camp hit a grounder to Lake View’s shortstop who bobbled the ball but was able to throw out the runner at first. McKinnon scored on a passed ball.
With 2 outs in the top of the third inning, Lake View managed to load the bases on a single by #12, a single by #11, and a walk for #3. Dillon managed to quelch the threat with a third out.
In the top of the fourth inning, Lake View’s #15 arrived at first on an error. Lake View’s #14 sacrificed bunted to advance the runner to second. Lake View’s #7 dropped 1 into short right for a single, and now runners were on the corners, and Lake View was threatening again. Cooper Lane for Lake View hit a grounder to the shortstop who managed to throw out the runner at first but the runner scored to knot the game at 1.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Dillon’s Barnes Causey picked up a walk, Austin Tyndall bunted 1 to the pitcher who threw the ball to second, and the ball got away placing runners on first and second with no outs. Jared Darmon advanced the runners to second and third on a sac bunt. Both runners scored on a hot 1 up the middle by Davis Cook who connected for his only hit of the evening out of 3 at-bats.
Dillon hosted Latta on Wednesday, June 7, and will travel to Pee Dee on Friday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m to play Kings Academy.
