Crawford Named Teacher Of The Year

Reginald Crawford, a 1997 graduate of Latta High School, was recently named Teacher of the Year for the entire city of Hampton, Virginia, where he teaches eighth grade science at Lindsay Middle School.
Crawford, the son of Cathy Crawford of Latta, graduated from Hampton University in 2002.
He is currently completing his administrative degree and hopes to become a principal in the near future.
Candidates for Teacher of the Year are considered based on their concern for each student; ability to inspire learning in all students of all backgrounds and abilities; ability and willingness to devote time and energy to activities that result in improved instruction for children; ability to work effectively with the community; desire to keep abreast of current educational theories and practices; ability and willingness to make contributions to the field of education; ability to create and implement innovative educational practices; and respectability and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues.
Crawford said that by teaching he will have a positive impact on the life of at least one child and that he teaches to help improve his community.
