The Lake View Lady Wild Gators defeated the Cross Lady Trojans 20-0 behind the shutout pitching of Grace Floyd in 3 innings in the Class A softball playoffs held in Lake View on Saturday, April 29. Floyd struck out 8 in the run-ruled shortened game. Lake View picked up 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning and added 15 in the bottom of the second inning. Lake View’s lead-off hitter, Spivey Evans garnered a walk to get the ball rolling for the Wild Gators in the bottom of the first inning. She stole second on a throw. Madison Greene for Lake View bunted to the pitcher, and she arrived at first and due to a bad throw Spivey Evans advanced to third. Lake View’s Madison Greene advanced to second on the throw. Alex Elliott for Lake View hit 1 up the middle for a double and 2 rbi for Lake View’s first scores of the game which would prove to be the only runs needed for the win.
Payton Bell was perfect at the plate for Lake View with 2 hit and 3 rbi in 3 at-bats while Logan Spivey garnered 2 hits and 3 rbi in 3 at-bats. Madison Greene was also perfect at the plate with 3 hits in 3 at-bats.
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators will host the winner of the Cross/Charleston School of Math and Science.
