Ann Fulmore Harllee Chapter Hosts UDC Pee Dee District Conference

The Ann Fulmore Harllee Chapter #1740 of the U.D.C. hosted the Pee Dee District Conference at Twin Lakes Country Club on February 4th. Chapter president, Mattie Strickland, extended a warm welcome to those who attended. Pee Dee director, Dolores Pringle from Myrtle Beach, presided over the business session and introduced the speaker, S.C. Division president, Ann Shugart from Rock Hill.
Mrs. Shugart spoke of upcoming events. One of these is the 2021 Annual General Convention which will be held in Myrtle Beach on November 5-8 at Embassy Suites. All members were asked to contribute China tea cups to be used as South Carolina gifts to the expected 500 attendees from all over the United States.
Chris Harris, District chaplain conducted a very impressive memorial service in memory of the four deceased daughters of this past year. One of these was Julia N. McIntyre. Julia died on October 19, 2016. She was a dear person and contributed greatly to this organization and to the community. Her talents were many and she shared them with young and old. We miss her!
Andrea Kemp of the Ellison Capers of Florence extended the invitation to next year’s Pee Dee District Conference. The Chapter will serve as host to the seven Pee Dee Chapters.
This Pee Dee Conference was well attended, and it was an honor to have many General and Division officers including two General ex-presidents, Mrs. (Esther) Winfred Cope of Aiken and Mrs. (Martha) Edward Van Schaick, Jr. of Lyman.
Following a delicious lunch, mini-workshops were held by Division officers. Door prizes were awarded to many lucky daughters.
The Conference was adjourned a great success.
