Brent Herlong signed with the North Greenville University Crusaders baseball team on Monday, November 14.
This right-handed pitcher of the Lake View Wild Gators will be pursuing his college career at a sport where he excels. His Father influenced him most in the sport of baseball.
At Lake View, Brent boasted an 8-2 record with 120 strike-outs while having a .324 batting average while having 63 hits and 59 rbi in 194 at-bats.
This past summer he was on Florence Post 1 Legion baseball and excelled with 0.00 era with 6 hits allowed in 26.2 innings with 6 wins, no losses, and 3 saves.
Brent is not only a great pitcher but he also plays third base well.
At one time in Brent’s life he also played football and basketball but later decided to concentrate on his passion, baseball. However, he still loves to play all sports, hunt, and fish when time permits.
Brent looks forward to continuing his career in baseball at North Greenville University where he believes he will fit in as this is a small school with a great coaching staff and players.
Brent will carry a great work ethics as taught by his coaches, teachers, and his parents as he pursues his goal.
Herlong received many awards while playing for Lake View such as being selected for HSSR All-State, HSSR All-Rookie, and playing on the American Legion State Champs.
Coach Kip Herlong proudly stated “It’s been a pleasure to coach Brent the past five years. With his being family it was probably harder on him than us. We’re very proud of what he has accomplished. We look forward to watching him play for someone else”. Brent’s parents, Chad and Melissa, are very proud parents who are very proud of their son’s accomplishments.
They both are elated at not only his success in academics but also in his athletic accomplishments.
They both look forward to watching him continue on the next level. “We’re excited about the North Greenville coaching staff” said the parents.
He will major in Civil Engineering.
