On Wednesday, June 29,2016 at approximately 0930 hours, I (CPL Grice) met with the victim at 205 West Hampton St. (City of Dillon Investigators Office) in the City of Dillon in regards to an incident that occurred the day before. Upon my arrival I was instructed by investigators to file a report for the victim. At this time I was informed by the victim that the incident had taken place at 805 Enterprise Rd. (Wal-Mart) in the City of Dillon on 06/28/2016. The victim stated that she was shopping at Wal-Mart in the grocery section when she was approached by the subject. The victim stated that the subject was very close to her and that he asked her if she was married. The victim stated that she was nervous so she answered no, but then changed her answer to yes. The victim stated that at this time she ran/jogged away from the subject. The victim stated that once she paid for her items she walked out of Wal-Mart where she saw another black male leaning against the trunk of a vehicle and that he stared at her while she walked by but she was unsure if the two were related incidents. The subject was identified and investigators will be speaking with him.
On 6/29/16  at 1226 Lt. Vereen  of the Dillon Police Department met with the suspect in reference to the reported incident. The suspect was asked to explain his encounter with the victim. The suspect then told Vereen, he thought that the victim was beautiful and he was tyring to get her number. The suspect recalled his question to the victim in which he asked if she was married and stated “ That’s my line I use to make women smile”. The suspect also told Vereen that his ex-wife called him after reading something on Facebook about the incident and told the suspect, “That sounds like your line”.
