PHOTO GALLERY: Latta Baseball v. Lake View, 5-9

The Latta Vikings defeated the Lake View Wild Gators 5-3 in 10 innings of varsity baseball lower state playoffs on Monday, May 9, in Lake View.
Caleb Mishue picked up the win as he pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief.  He allowed only 1 hit, walked 2, and struck out 2.
Colby Lee pitched 8 innings for the Vikings and allowed 8 hits, walked 4, struck out 7, and allowed 3 earned runs.
Lake View’s Carson Rogers pitched 8 innings and allowed 11 hits, walked 1, struck out 8, and allowed 3 runs of which only 1 was earned. Weston Rogers pitched 1.1 innings and allowed l hit, walked 1, struck out 2, and allowed 2 earned runs and was charged with the loss. Josh Price pitched .2 inning and allowed 1 hit.
Lake View committed 3 errors in the game.
Latta took an early lead in the top of the first inning as the team put 2 on the scoreboard. Cledus Williams connected for a single.  Jackson Williams doubled to score Eric McGirt and Deonte Stanley.
Lake View picked up a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Latta managed a run in the top of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead before Lake View knotted the game at 3 as the Wild Gators put 2 on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning when Lake View scored on single by Stone Spivey and a sacrifice fly by De’Ante  Bridgett.
The game went into extra innings. The Latta Vikings managed to push across 2 runs in the top of the tenth inning to take the victory 5-3 as once again Jackson Williams managed a double to score Eric McGirt and Deonte Stanley.
Jackson Williams connected on 3 doubles in 5 at-bats for Latta while picking up 4 rbi and scoring a run.
Dylan Brewer and Colby Lee each managed 2 singles in 5 trips-to-the-plate. Eric McGirt, Caleb Mishue, McLeod Carmichael, and Cledus Williams each singled in 5 at-bats for the Vikings.
Lake View’s Brent Herlong connected for 3 singles in 5 at-bats. Connor Anderson doubled and picked up 2 walks in his 5 plate appearances.
Weston Rogers singled and walked in his 5 plate appearances.
De’Ante Bridgett scored a run and garnered a single. S. Spivey and Josh Price each singled and picked up a rbi for the Wild Gators.
N. Collins also singled for Lake View. Hunter Stevens picked up 2 walks and scored a run in the game.
Lake View hosted East Clarendon on Wednesday, May 11, in the lower state playoffs.
Latta will host TBA in the Class a lower state championship game Friday.
