The Loris Lions varsity baseball defeated the Dillon Wildcats 5-3 in a game played in Dillon on Tuesday, April 5.
The Wildcats led until the last inning when Loris managed 3 runs to hand Dillon the loss.
Loris’ Tanner Kennedy pitched a complete game. He allowed 9 hits and struck out 7 for the victory.
Dillon’s Billy McGirt pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed 1 hit, 2 unearned runs, walked 4,and struck out 7 and was credited with the loss.
Dillon took an early lead in the game as the team picked up 2 runs in the bottom of the first and added another run in the bottom of the second inning before Loris scored 2 runs in the top of the fifth and added 3 more runs in the top of the seventh inning.
The Lions Athan Aftosmos went 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 rbi while Andrew Rowell led Dillon with 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 2 rbi.
Dillon is now 5-6 for the season and 2-2 in Region 8-2A.
Dillon will travel to Waccamaw on Thursday, April 7, for a 5:30 p.m. game.
