Ervin Bryant Norton

Mr. Ervin Bryant Norton, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Dillon County, SC, on June 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Richard Ervin Norton and Katie Ethelean Polson Norton. He was a graduate of Clio High School and a member of Bristow Free Will Baptist Church. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Ervin returned home and joined his family business the R.E. Norton Trucking Company, founded by his late father. He later ventured out and worked for several trucking companies and received numerous “Safety Driving Awards.”  He retired as a Professional Truck Driver after 43 years of dedicated service.
Ervin was a true outdoors man, busy tinkering and working around his yard. He loved cooking out and having family gatherings.
He enjoyed attending church and watching sports and was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and pet lover.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joan Jackson Norton of their home in Latta; daughters, Becky (Kelvin) Cooper, Tammy (Ron) Hyatt and Ashley (Kelly) Haselden all of Latta; by sisters, Katie Lee McLaurin, Evelyn (Charles) Hatcher and Mary Katherine (R.M.) Williams all of Clio; by grandchildren, Matthew Cox, Brittany Hyatt, Aaron Hyatt, Makayla Haselden, Kayleb “K-Bug” Haselden, Brandon Cooper and Madison Cooper; also by 2 faithful canine friends, Lexie and Louie.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Bristow Free Will Baptist Church with burial following in Catfish Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Bristow Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; a brother, Bill Norton; and a grandson, Alan Michael Cox.
