Edward Duncan (Zeb) McLaurin, Jr., died at home Thursday, October 8, 2015, with his family by his side.
Mr. McLaurin was born June 17, 1936, in Marlboro County. He was a son of the late Edward Duncan McLaurin and Mabel Campbell McLaurin.
He was the widower of Linda Therrell McLaurin. He is survived by his daughters Teresa Holder (Danny) of Dillon, SC, Janie Lee McManus (Nathan) of Lancaster, SC; sons, Eddie McLaurin and Bill McLaurin (Anita) of Dillon, SC; grandchildren, Patricia Holder Ramage (Joseph) of Greenville, SC, Charlie McManus of Lancaster, SC, Thomas Holder, Greenville, SC, Carrie McManus of Lancaster, SC and brother, Jim McLaurin of Elgin, SC. He was predeceased by brothers George McLaurin and Clarence McLaurin.
Ed grew up in the Carolina community. After graduating from Clio High School in 1958, he attended King’s Business College in Charlotte, NC. He worked several jobs in Dillon before finding his home as a police dispatcher with the City of Dillon Police Department. At that time, Dillon Police Chief, Jack Carter, honored and recognized Ed’s work as a police dispatcher and his devotion to duty. Ed proudly served with the police department for 17 years until his retirement in 1988. His greatest love was his family. Nothing made him happier than for someone to sit with him and let him tell them about his grandchildren and all their accomplishments. He was also an avid Clemson fan.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff of Regency Hospice who helped their dad live in comfort and dignity during his illness.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Carolina Presbyterian Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at 706 East Harrison Street, Dillon, SC.
