On Wednesday, May 20, the Latta Vikings defeated the Lewisville Lions 6-2 in game two of the 2015 Class A baseball state championship series.
Latta scored three runs in the top of the first and two in the third, and the Lions added one in the bottom of the second and one the fourth to trail 5-2. The Vikings added one run in the top of the sixth to hold off the Lions and claim the win. Latta had nine hits and one error in the win and Lewisville had five hits and five errors.
McLeod Carmichael earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete game for five hits, two runs, one walk, two hit by pitch, and two outs.
At bat, Eric McGirt went 1-for-4 with a triple and one run; Cledus Williams drew two walks; Jackson Williams went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and one run, also reaching on an error; John Kever Love went 1-for-4 with one run; Caleb Mishue reached on an error and drew a walk for one run; Austin Miller went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run and also reached on a hit by pitch; Jonathan Ray reached on an error; McLeod Carmichael went 2-for-3 with one RBI; Brady Hatchell went 1-for-3 and also reached on an error; and Daniel Khalil scored one run.
