The Latta Vikings earned a 70-48 win over the Green Sea Floyds Trojans on Friday night in Green Sea in boys varsity basketball action.
The Vikings were led by Davonta Porter with a team-high 12 points, with Diez Mungro and Damien Braddy each adding 10 points in the win.
Latta improved to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in Region 8-A. Green Sea Floyds fell to 3-8 overall and 2-2 in the region.
Latta leads the region and Carvers Bay is in second place in the region at 3-1, with Hemingway and Green Sea at 2-2 and Creek Bridge at 1-3. Lake View is last in the region with an 0-4 record.
Latta is set to host Carvers Bay tonight at 6:00 p.m. with the region lead on the line. A win for Latta could help the Vikings, under new head coach Chris German, clinch their first region title since 2002.
The Bears are 9-8 overall and defeated Hemingway 68-59 with Arkel Williams scoring 26 points and Eaddy Moore adding 18 in the win.
