Warriors Battle Bobcats, Saints for Junior Varsity Wins

The Dillon Christian School Warriors battled the Carolina Academy Bobcats and the Christian Academy Saints last week in high school basketball action.

On Thursday night, the Warriors traveled to Lake City to face Carolina Academy, picking up wins in junior varsity action.

The JV Lady Warriors earned a 24-13 win over the Bobcats, while the JV boys went 40-31 over Carolina Academy.

In varsity girls action, the Lady Warriors fell 47-16 to the Bobcats. Carolina took a 26-6 lead into halftime and outscored Dillon Christian 20-10 in the second for the win.

Samantha Carpenter led the Lady Warriors with five points with Sara Bass adding 4; Jamie Carpenter, 3; Myra Bracey, 3; and Erin Hamer, 2.

Carolina Academy was led by Candice Morris and Hannah Weaver with 10 points each. Matthews added 7; Ward, 6; Gaskins, 6; Castles, 4; and Durant, 3.

In varsity boys action, the Warriors battled the Bobcats for a 29-14 loss.

On Friday night, the Warriors were back home to host Christian Academy of North Myrtle Beach. Junior varsity boys action kicked off the night, with the Warriors falling 50-46 to the visiting Saints.

In girls varsity action, the Lady Warriors took a 64-13 loss from the Lady Saints. Christian Academy lead 34-8 at the half and added 30 points in the second half for the win as they improved to 10-4 overall.

Rebekah Bowers led all scorers with 18 points and 25 rebounds for Christian Academy, and TT Joins added 12 points with 10 rebounds and 11 steals. MC Butler scored nine for the Saints; Katelyn Jordan, 8; Chloe Parker, 7; Caroline Gore, 6; and Tatumn Clark, 4.

In the boys’ varsity game, the Warriors fell 68-28 to the Saints, who took a 23-13 lead into halftime and outscored the Warriors 45-15 in the second half for the win.

Matthew Price scored a team-high 10 points to lead the Warriors in the effort. Anthony Williams added 7; Jim Carr, 6; Luke Price, 3; and Ellison Rourke, 2. Carr sank two 3-point goals.

For the Saints, Josh Lang earned a game-high 15 points with six rebounds and four steals. Michael Green added 13 points in the win with eight assists, eight rebounds, and four steals. Robert Guyton added 11 points; John Sessums, 8; Spencer Underwood, 7; Jaylen Johnson, 6; Ian McCauley, 5; and Yemi Oduwole, 3.

The Saints improved to 12-4 and 3-0 in the Region while the Warriors remain winless in SCISA Region 3-2A.

The Warriors were scheduled to travel to Maranatha Christian on Monday night and will be away at Emmanuel Baptist on Thursday and at Marlboro Academy on Friday.
