Day Day’s BBQ and Skins in Lake View is voluntarily recalling approximately 306 pounds of pork barbecue that was produced without the benefit of state inspection, S.C. Meat-Poultry Inspection Department (SCMPID) director Clyde Hoskins announced today.
The product being recalled is Day Day’s BBQ Pork with BBQ Sauce, produced in 16-ounce (1 pound) plastic containers. All recalled containers bear the establishment number “134” inside the South Carolina inspection legend. The products were produced between January and November 2014 and shipped to a retail store in South Carolina.
The problem was discovered during a routine compliance review of the retail store. The product had been produced without the presence of inspection program personnel.
Neither SCMPID nor the company has received any reports of illness due to consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact their health care provider.
SCMPID routinely conducts effectiveness checks to verify that recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps have been taken to make certain that the recalled product is no longer available to consumers.
