To The Editor:
I watched some great baseball this past week! The Dillon All Stars 11 and 12 year olds took the tournament with great pride and determination. They went to Florence Freedom Field to bring the state championship home. They were so determined to win; they never thought about losing. I saw some of the best pitching I’ve ever seen. When my son was small, I coached a lot of years; but, this team had the most talent I have ever seen. They took 12 of the best players Dillon has. The coaches were the most qualified I have ever seen. They played every position with the right person and the best defense. One player went into the tournament with a broken thumb, but he never showed it with his pitching and even hit home runs. The whole team hit; I’ve never seen so many homeruns. The whole team had confidence, and they played as a team and not as individuals.
I hated to see it end, but it is not over. Now we are going to the Little League World Series. I have no doubt that this team can handle whatever you ask them to do. If you can take a few days off, you should go see these young guys play. It will be worth the trip. Go and support this team as they represent Dillon County. You will get your money’s worth. If you see any of this team around town, congratulate them. They have represented us well; this is not a small accomplishment!
Go, Dillon! I am so proud of you.
