The Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and added three runs in the second to put them up 4-0. McBee scored their only run in the top of third to trail 4-1, but the Vikings picked up four runners in the fourth to seal the win.
Christian Hendrix earned the win for Latta, pitching five innings for two hits, two walks, one earned run, and six outs. McBee’s Barfield took the loss ,pitching 3.3 innings for four earned runs, seven hits, five walks, and one out.
At bat for the Vikings, Avery Berry went 3-for-3; Donell Stanley went 2-for-3 with two RBI; Jeremy Jenkins went 1-for-3 with two RBI; and John Kever Love had one hit for Latta. The Vikings had 11 hits in the win.
McBee had four hits and three errors in the effort, with A. Miller picking up one RBI.
The Vikings are 14-3 overall and 8-1 for first place in Region 8-A.
Latta is scheduled to host Lake View this Friday at 5:30 p.m. and will travel to Mullins on Monday, April 28, to wrap up the regular season.
