Lady Warriors Fall 10-0 to Bobcats

By Craig Brown

The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors traveled to Lake City on Monday night for a make-up region game with the Lady Bobcats of Carolina Academy, falling 10-0 to the Bobcats.

The Warriors actually played good defense early in the game but remain weak due to illness and injuries on the mound and the Bobcats eventually overcame the Warrior’s defensive efforts. The Warriors did not do as well at bat as they had in past games and this did little to aid their efforts in the end.

Raghan Springs took the mound for the Bobcats and posted six strikeouts, had two batters to base on walks, and gave up two hits and no runs scored for the win.

For the Warriors, Jamie Carpenter faced 20 batters, posted one strikeout, had two walked batters, and allowed five hits and six runs scored for the loss. Sarah Fitzgibbon faced 10 batters, had two walked batters, and allowed three hits and four runs scored.

At bat for the Bobcats, Heidi Mathews went 4-for-4 with a triple and two RBI; Tori Gaskins was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and a RBI; Ally Gaskins was 1-for-3 getting to base on an error with a RBI; and Rachael Cook was 1-for-3.

For the Warriors, Ansley Hamer was 1-for-1; Jamie Carpenter was 1-for-2; and Sarah Fitzgibbon and Makinleigh Seals made it to base on walks.

The Lady Warriors were scheduled to travel to face Robert E. Lee Academy on Tuesday night and will host the Lady Cavaliers this Friday at 5:30 p.m.
