Lady Vikings Earn 16-0 Shut Out Win Over Raiders, Fall 5-1 to Flashes

Latta’s Lady Vikings shut out Hannah-Pamplico’s Lady Raiders 16-0 in five innings last week but fell 5-1 to Johnsonville’s Lady Flashes on Friday night in varsity softball action.

Latta’s Anna Rogers earned the win on the mound Friday night, pitching five innings and allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out five. Rogers improved to 3-0 with the win.

Lyndsey Prosser took the loss for the Raiders, pitching five innings for 14 earned runs, 17 hits, one out, and two hit by pitch.

At bat, Camryn Sawyer went 4-for-4 with a RBI; Macy Hyatt went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI; Dori Webster went 3-for-4 with a RBI; and Madison Owens went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Hannah-Pamplico’s Titi Blue went 1-for-2 for the Raiders, who fell to 3-1.

On Friday, Latta traveled to Johnsonville and fell 5-1. Johnsonville scored two runs in the bottom of the second and added two in the fifth and one in the sixth for the win. Latta scored their only run in the top of the fourth inning.

Savanna Young earned the win for Johnsonville, pitching seven innings for five hits, one earned run, one walk, and five outs. Anna Rogers took the loss for Latta, pitching seven innings for seven hits, five runs, four earned runs, and a walk while striking out seven.

Brittany Warren led the Lady Flashes at bat, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Jada Parsons went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI; Shay Morris went 1-for-3; and Kayla Ard and Ashton Prosser each went 1-for-4. The Flashes had seven hits in the win.

Madison Owens led the Vikings at bat, going 2-for-3, while Macy Hyatt, Dori Webster, and Genesis Anderson each went 1-for-3. Latta had a total of five hits in the effort.

Johnsonville improved to 3-1 and 1-0 in Region 8-A, while Latta slipped to 3-1 and 1-1 in the region.

The Lady Vikings are scheduled to travel to Green Sea-Floyds tonight at 5:30 p.m. and will be at Darlington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Latta will be back at home on Friday to host Hannah-Pamplico at 5:30 p.m.
