The Lady Vikings defeated Marion on Thursday, December 18, as Takeria Legette scored a game-high 32 points to lead Latta to a 66-35 win.
Latta jumped ahead 24-4 in the first quarter, but Marion rallied to go 13-12 in the second, leaving them trailing 36-17 at the half. The Lady Vikings outpaced the Swamp Foxes 15-6 and 15-12 in the second half to seal the win.
Legette scored 32 points, picked up 15 rebounds, and made 12 assists for the Vikings. Jessica Evans added 12 points for Latta, and Brittany Burgess and Mallory Townsend each contributed eight. Michia Johnson earned four points in the win, and Maya Wright added two.
LaQuasha Williams led Marion with 13 points, and Shayrigh Johnson added seven with Zakiya Mason adding six. Ariaher Morrisity scored three, and Kyra Daniels, Angelica Ellison, and Imanni Vereen each added two.
The Lady Vikings improved to 5-1 overall with the win.
Latta will return to action in the new year, hosting the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday, January 7 at 6:00 p.m. and traveling to Dillon on Friday, January 10.
