Gators Fall to Lions, Blue Jackets

The Lake View Wild Gators fell to Loris and Aynor last week in boys varsity basketball.

Lake View hosted Loris on Monday, December 16, and fell 73-35 to the visiting Lions with Loris taking a 21-2 lead in the first quarter. Loris outscored the Gators 16-6 in the second for a 37-8 lead at half time. The Gators began to rally in the second half, but Loris still carried the third and fourth quarters 19-11 and 17-16 for the win.

Loris’s Tyree Floyd scored a game-high 14 points and Kevin Gore added 12 in the win. Zach Faircloth scored nine; Shammond Jackson, 8; Jaquan Jordan, 7; Zeke Beckman, 6; Travon Morgan, 5; Deontae Wideman, 4; Demetrius Hemingway, 4; Junior Long, 3; and Shawn Simmons, 2.

Crishon Jordan led Lake View with a team-high 10 points in the effort, including four doubles and two free throws, and made one steal. Reco Brown earned seven points, including three doubles, and grabbed six rebounds with two steals and a block, and Thomas Butler added five points with a three-pointer and a double and picked up a defensive rebound with one assist.

Delvon Bethea sank a three-pointer and Xavier Johnson, Chavis Nichols, and Duane Nichols each sank two-pointers. Johnson picked up two defensive rebounds; Nichols grabbed one rebound and made two steals; Nichols picke dup two rebounds and made two assists; Emmanuel Williams picked up two rebounds and an assist; and Jeremiah Cribb went 2-for-2 on free throws.

On Tuesday, the Gators traveled to Aynor and fell 59-37 to the Blue Jackets.

Lake View is now 0-5 while Aynor and Loris each improved to 4-3.

Lake View will return to action on Tuesday, January 7, at East Clarendon.
